Per a statement received from Sugarcreek Construction:

We are beginning works on the Reeds Creek Bridge that will require intermittent, short-duration closures of the channel during certain activities to ensure the safety of boaters. These closures are anticipated to primarily be intermittent and very short in duration (~1hr or so). Channel closure signs will be deployed during these times and channel access will be closed, and then opened back up as soon as the operation is stable and public can safely pass. The subcontractor performing the bridge construction has advised that boat traffic has been extremely minimal in the last few weeks. We believe this maximizes public access by implementing multiple short closures (rather than more lengthy ones), while allowing construction activities to proceed. This email serves as notification to Duke Energy and LNMC of the subject channel closures moving forward. Longer duration closures will be necessary during future activities, and we will keep you informed as those approach.

Per a statement received from Sugarcreek Construction:

We will soon begin setting the girders at the Lake Norman / I-77 Bridge. A full channel closure will be implemented during this work for public and boater safety in accordance with the Navigational Safety Plan. This closure is currently anticipated to occur on Monday, August 28 and Tuesday, August 29. We will keep you informed of any schedule adjustments as this work approaches. Once the work is complete, we will return to the current short-duration closures on an as-needed basis.
