The Lake Norman Marine Commission passed new Charter Boat Regulations at its July 2022 meeting. After comments, several revisions were made and the latest version approved by the Commission at their January 2023 meeting. They are aimed at increasing the safety of those who are chartering boats or paying fees for various boat cruises and other advertised activities on Lake Norman. The new regulations will require all charter boats to have a permit issued by the Commission, proper levels of insurance, and to have a Captain with a valid U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license. The new reulations will be effective in January 2023.
